Vol. 473 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dundalk (Louth) Regional Technical College.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

72 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if she will give approval to proceed to tender for a new library and a new tourism industry building for Dundalk regional technical college, County Louth; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24743/96]

As I indicated in my press release of 13 January 1994, £3 million was allocated for capital developments at Dundalk regional technical college under the 1994-1999 European Regional Development Fund programme. To date, approximately £1.2 million of the allocation has been expended on an extension which provided extra administration offices and lecture rooms.

The balance amounting to £1.8 million remains available for investment in the tourism project.

Funding for the new library is at present being considered by my Department. All additional capital funding, however, will have to be considered in the context of other priorities and overall resource constraints.
