Vol. 473 No. 3

Written Answers. - EU Funding.

Ivor Callely

Question:

25 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the moneys drawn down to date of the £28.55 million National Monuments and Historic Properties EU Operational Programme; the projects, if any, which may not utilise all the moneys allocated; whether it is likely that there will be any residual moneys; whether applicants can make applications for such moneys or additional moneys; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24849/96]

The amount expended on national monuments and historic properties under the EU operational programme (sub-programme 1, measure 2) will be of the order of £7.5 million by end December, 1996. As stated in my reply to Question No. 87 of 12 June last, the amounts allocated to certain projects may vary depending on project costs which cannot be determined precisely in advance, particularly in the case of restoration work. However, at this stage it appears unlikely that there will be any residual funds available for allocation to new projects.

As the funding under this measure relates to projects at State-owned properties only, the question of applications for funding being made by private applicants does not arise.
