Vol. 473 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tallaght Hospital Facilities.

Mary Harney

Question:

69 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Health if he has been approached for funding to establish a general practitioner-run primary care centre at the new Tallaght Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25066/96]

Limerick East): The Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Dublin, incorporating the National Children's Hospital, has a policy of integrating its services into the community at Tallaght. In this regard the hospital authorities are engaged in discussions with the Eastern Health Board and GPs in the area. I understand that initial proposals have been drawn up for the development of a primary care centre for people living in the catchment area of the new hospital at Tallaght. I have not yet received any proposals for funding for this centre but whatever final proposals emerge from the current discussions will be fully considered.
