Vol. 473 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Museum.

Ivor Callely

Question:

89 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the total number and value of the items in the care of the National Museum; the number of items on public display at any given time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24962/96]

I refer the Deputy to my replies to Question No. 54 of 1 February 1995 and Question No. 30 of 26 October 1995 regarding items in the care of the National Museum.

With regard to the value of the material held by the National Museum, it is not possible to place a monetary value on the items in question which are considered invaluable in the context of our national heritage.
