Question:

371 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Education the reason a grant has not been sanctioned for a project (details supplied) in County Galway; the date on which sanction will be granted; the amount of grant to be allocated; if she will give details of the project to be grant aided; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1501/97]

Officials in my Department's building unit are currently considering applications from the school in question for grant-aid for the provision of a lift at the school and roof repairs. Additional information is awaited from the school authority in this regard. Approval to proceed with these works will be dependent on available resources.

Kilglass is one of a number of urgent projects I am considering for funding in the 1997 building programme. I will take a decision in the matter very shortly and it will be communicated to the school management.
