Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Casual Trading.

Seán Kenny

Question:

403 Mr. S. Kenny asked the Minister for Justice the action, if any, taken by the Garda during the Christmas period to deal with the widespread sale of Christmas trees which caused traffic congestion around shopping centres in Dublin city and which was in breach of the Casual Trading Act, 1996. [25206/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that they are of the view that the sale of Christmas trees did not cause any significant traffic congestion at shopping centres in Dublin.

I am further informed that appropriate action was taken by the Garda where the sale of the trees was in breach of the Casual Trading Act or where such sales were interfering with the free flow of traffic.
