144 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht when the Irish Deontas will be restored to a child (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that the child was assessed in the Donegal dialect which she could not understand and the other children in the family were not inspected but lost their Deontas. Is é cuspóir Scéim Labhairt na Gaeilge ná muintir na Gaeltachta a spreagadh chun labhairt na Gaeilge a chur chun cinn sa teaghlach agus sa phobal i gcoitinne.

Diúltaíodh deontas don teaghlach áirithe seo don scoilbhliain reatha (1996-97) toisc nach raibh mo Roinnse sásta gurbh í an Ghaeilge a ngnáththeanga labhartha. Tá socraithe agam, áfach, go ndéanfar athbhreithniú ar an gcás agus cuirfear an toradh in iúl don Teachta agus don iarratasóir.
