Vol. 473 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Austin Deasy

Question:

46 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice when work will commence on a major extension to the Garda barracks at Ballybrickan, Waterford, in view of the gross overcrowding and difficult working conditions being experienced by members of the Garda Síochána and civilian staff; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1351/97]

It is proposed to refurbish and extend the divisional headquarters Garda station in Waterford. The Office of Public Works has indicated that tenders for the project will be invited shortly with a view to commencement of work in mid year.
