Vol. 474 No. 2

Written Answers. - Sheep Subsidy.

Liam Aylward

Question:

106 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will revise the decision to refuse 1996 and 1997 sheep subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who was advised by an official of his Department in the office in which he made the application to add the extra quota which he was in the process of purchasing on the date of application. [2635/97]

The herdowner was deemed to have made an intentional false declaration in his application for grants under the 1996 ewe premium and sheep headage schemes. As a result he was excluded from participation in the schemes for 1996 and 1997. An appeal was lodged with the headage and premia appeals unit. The matter is now being investigated and the herdowner will be notified of the outcome as soon as the appeal is concluded.
