Vol. 474 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Mary Harney

Question:

163 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to sanction the provision of a general purposes room, storage rooms, medical room and library at St. Killian's senior national school, Castleview, Dublin 24, in view of the fact that this school has been without these facilities since it was built in 1987; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2859/97]

While I am anxious to extend the provision of general purpose facilities in primary schools, resources are strictly limited and the priority must remain the provision of essential classroom accommodation. Accordingly, in the light of other priority projects and available financial resources, I am not in a position to provide grantaid towards the cost of providing a general purposes room and ancillary accommodation at St. Killian's senior school, Dublin 24, at this time.
