Vol. 474 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Costs.

Ivor Callely

Question:

189 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the total legal costs incurred by her Department in 1995 for professional legal services; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2867/97]

The necessary professional legal services required by my Department are provided by the Attorney General and the Chief State Solicitor; the costs involved are borne by the Vote of the Office of the Attorney General. I wish to point out that, in relation to personal injury and similar claims against my Department, summary details of compensation awards are set out in the annual Appropriation Account volume. Where appropriate, an indication is given of the amount of the legal costs comprising such awards.
