Vol. 474 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

190 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Justice the number of public servants in areas falling within the remit of her Department who are currently on career breaks; and the number who have been waiting over two months to return to work. [2964/97]

At present there are 134 public servants coming under the general responsibility of my Department on career break. Two of these have been waiting longer than two months to return to the service. They were offered full-time positions at the end of their career breaks. One member of staff (a professional person) has requested to take up duty in a specific rural location where there is no vacancy at present. The other member of staff wishes to resume duty in a job-sharing capacity only and will be facilitated shortly.
