Vol. 474 No. 3

Written Answers. - Redeployment of Staff.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

58 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Taoiseach if he will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who wishes to obtain a transfer from Dublin for family and social reasons. [3107/97]

The person in question, although based in Westmeath, accepted promotion to the post of clerical officer for the 1996 Census of Population in the Central Statistics Office, Dublin.

The appointment of additional staff for the census was approved as an exceptional measure by Government in the context of staffing constraints in the Civil Service generally. On completion of the census work the staff will be redeployed to other Departments. Redeployment of census staff is expected to commence in the summer and the CSO will try to facilitate the person in question in the normal way.
