Vol. 474 No. 4

Written Answers. - Road Projects.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

105 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for the Environment if he will confirm the approval for the completion of the Fonthill Road in Dublin 22; the total cost of the project; the date on which construction will commence; and the anticipated timescale for its completion. [3193/97]

The total cost of completing the final section of the Newlands-Fonthill road is estimated by South Dublin County Council to be in the region of £6 million. I recently allocated a grant of £1.185 million under the EU co-financed scheme of grants to the county council for this project in 1997. I understand construction of the new road is scheduled to commence in September-October of this year and that it will be completed within approximately 18 months of commencement.
