65 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the reduction to £2.68 million in 1997 from £3.6 million in 1996 for the grant-in-aid for library services under subhead F2 of the Vote of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3358/97]
The allocation for library services for 1997 is £2.68 million. The allocations in 1995 and 1996 were augmented by a special grant of £1 million each year in respect of a single major project the funding of which has now been completed. The allocation for 1997 is, therefore, in excess of the base provision in 1995 and 1996.
