Vol. 474 No. 6

Written Answers. - Teacher Appointments.

Éamon Ó Cuív

Question:

172 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Education whether she intends to appoint a second teacher to Inishbofin national school, in view of the fact that this school is on an off-shore island, the number of children attending this school and that it is projected that 14 new pupils will be attending this school in September 1997. [3619/97]

I cannot confirm that a second teacher will be appointed to Inishbofin national school in September 1997 because decisions have not been taken regarding the staffing allocations for the 1997-8 school year.

However, as soon as the allocations are determined, a circular on the matter will be issued to all boards of management and principal teachers. If it is considered that the school is entitled to an extra post the board of management should contact my Department directly in the matter.
