189 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for Education if she will make permanent appointments in Mayo Vocational Education Committee where the current situation of large numbers of parttime teachers is not acceptable and the fact that no permanent appointments have been made since 1994. [3824/97]

The appointment of teachers to Mayo Vocational Education Committee is a matter in the first instance for the vocational education committee.

My Department has notified the vocational education committee that up to six posts may be filled in a permanent capacity in the current school year.
