Vol. 474 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Costs.

Paul McGrath

Question:

231 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the expenditure by his Department on advertisements in national and provincial newspapers for each of the past five years. [3733/97]

Since my Department was set up in January 1993, expenditure on advertisements has been as follows: 1993 — £1,600; 1994 — £19,800; 1995 — £19,700; and 1996 — £8,400. No payments have yet been made in 1997.

Almost all of the above expenditure has arisen from a statutory obligation to publish notices which have been advertised through the Office of Public Works in the national newspapers.
