Limerick East): The information requested by the Deputy in relation to expenditure on advertising by my Department in national and provinicial newspapers for each of the past five years is set out as follows:

The increased expenditure in 1996 was primarily due to advertising providing information to persons who had contracted hepatitis C, and also to provision of advice to the general public conerning changes in the requirements regarding notification of marriages, and raising of the minimum age for marriage, following the Family Law Act 1995.
