Vol. 475 No. 1

Written Answers. - Day Care Centre.

Máirín Quill

Question:

151 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Health if he is in receipt of an application for funding for the provision of a day care centre for the elderly in Bishopstown, Cork; if so, when funding will be available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4549/97]

Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware, the development of a day care centre for the elderly in Bishopstown is the responsibility of the Southern Health Board. I have received a copy of the Southern Health Board's plan for the development of day hospitals and day care centres, and this is currently being examined by my Department. I understand that the board have identified a need for a day care centre in Bishopstown and that this is included in the board's plan. Funding for the proposals contained within the board's plan, including the proposal for Bishopstown, will be considered in the light of the board's internal priorities and overall capital funding available to my Department.
