166 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the number of permanent staff in his Department and each State agency under the aegis of his Department; the number of temporary staff; the number of staff on contract; and if Government staffing/embargo guidelines are adhered to in his Department and each State agency in this regard. The following are details of permanent and temporary staff currently employed in my Department and in each State agency under the aegis of my Department which employs staff directly. All staff, permanent or temporary, are employed under specific conditions of service which whether written or expressed, serve as a contract of employment. Thus I have supplied information under two categories, permanent or temporary, as appropriate. My Department and its agencies adhere to Government guidelines on staffing numbers.

I would like to clarify for the Deputy that as I have no statutory function in relation to staff numbers in RTÉ, I have not included information in relation to that organisation.
