Vol. 475 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Board Funding.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

167 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment when the next allocation of funding will be made to the North-Western Health Board for the housing aid for the elderly; the number of applications currently on hand; the level of funding required to clear the current backlog of applications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4500/97]

The initial allocation for 1997 will be determined shortly and notified to the health boards by the task force who, under the aegis of my Department, administer the scheme of special housing aid for the elderly. On the basis of the most recent returns furnished by the North-Western Health Board, a total of 345 applications, with an estimated cost of £482,750, were on hands at 31 December 1996.
