Vol. 475 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cultural Development Incentive Scheme.

Mary Harney

Question:

34 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the number of applications received by his office in relation to the cultural development incentive scheme, phase II; the current status of such applications; and when decisions will issue. [4682/97]

Under phase II of the cultural development incentive scheme a total of 148 applications for assistance were made to my Department. A detailed assessment of all applications received is under way at present. Following the completion of the assessment process, the advisory committee for the scheme will make recommendations to me regarding the level of funding, if any, that should be offered to individual projects. The purpose of this process is to ensure that the best projects, taking all factors into account, emerge and are offered support. I expect to be in a position to offer funding, in principle and subject to satisfactory conclusion of detailed negotiations on a case by case basis, to the promotors of successful projects in March.
