Vol. 475 No. 3

Written Answers. - Job Security.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

71 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he will allay the fears of those employed at interpretative centres regarding their future job security in view of recent recommendations made to him. [4818/97]

I presume the Deputy refers to the recently published consultants' report on the conservation of the Wicklow Mountains which included a draft management plan for the Wicklow Mountains national park. This draft report carries no negative implications for those employed as permanent guides in the heritage services of my Department, neither are its recommendations, if adopted by me following the public consultation process, likely to reduce the employment of seasonal guides by the heritage service.
