Vol. 475 No. 4

Written Answers. - Greyhound Exports to Spain.

Alan Shatter

Question:

262 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the controls, if any, which are in place with regard to the sale of Irish greyhounds for racing in Spain and to prevent the alleged ill-treatment and abuse of greyhounds in Spain; the nature of Bord na gCon's involvement in this trade; and whether Bord na gCon is satisfied with the operation of greyhounds tracks in Spain to which Irish dogs are sent. [4907/97]

The position is still as set out in my reply to Question No. 112 of 18 December 1996.
