I have recently received the document "Towards a County Heritage Policy", an interim report prepared by An Fóram Oidhreachta, an umbrella group of voluntary heritage organisations in Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown, which I understand has been presented to Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council.
An Fóram Oidhreachta is to be commended on producing a comprehensive document containing many interesting proposals. The document is intended to generate a constructive debate and to contribute to the protection, promotion and increased awareness and appreciation of the heritage of the county, leading to formulation of a county heritage policy for Dún Laoighaire/ Rathdown by Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council. The adoption of such a policy is a matter for the county council.
I understand the document is being considered by Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown Council in the context of the review of the council's two development plans, which is currently in progress, and that the county council intends to consult An Fóram Oidhreachta.
