Vol. 475 No. 7

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Brendan Smith

Question:

161 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Education the stage of planning of the Ballyhaise national school project, County Monaghan; when tenders will be invited in respect of this project; when construction work will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5791/97]

The current position is that planning permission was obtained in respect of plans approved by my Department. The school authorities have been authorised to advise their consulting architect to prepare detailed drawings and contract documentation to facilitate the tender process.

On receipt of same I will decide the timing of the tender process in light of available resources and competing priorities. Accordingly, I am not in a position to state when tenders will be invited or construction is expected to commence.
