160 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to provide intensive remedial tuition for a child (details supplied) in County Mayo; and if she will ensure that he is taught through English in view of the fact that confusion is currently being caused in this regard. The child referred to by the Deputy attends a school which teaches its pupils through the Irish language. I understand that this is giving rise to learning difficulties for the child, despite the availability of remedial tuition at the school.
I have arranged for the school's inspector to contact the parents of this child to discuss educational options available.
