Vol. 475 No. 7

Written Answers. - Condition of Prisoner.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

190 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to the continuing medical difficulties being experienced by a person (details supplied) in County Louth who is serving a sentence in Arbour Hill Prison; when he will be released from prison; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5690/97]

I am satisfied that all offenders at Arbour Hill Prison, including the offender in question, have access to the full range of medical services at the prison. The offender in question can see the medical officer at the prison on a daily basis. He also attends an external hospital three times per week for treatment in relation to his medical condition. The offender in question is due for release, with standard one quarter remission, on 10 December 2000.
