Vol. 475 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Noel Treacy

Question:

230 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of young farmers who have qualified for farm installation aid in each of the years since its inception; the amount of money paid to these applicants in each year; the amount of money allocated in this regard in 1997; if he is committed to this scheme in future years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5656/97]

I have set out on the following table the number of young farmers who have qualified for farm installation aid in the years 1987 to end of February 1997. I am satisfied there are adequate funds to meet claims submitted for payment during 1997. In common with other schemes, this scheme will be reviewed in the context of the mid-term review of Structural Funds.
