Vol. 475 No. 7

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

51 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if he will have arrangements made for a child (details supplied) in County Cork to have necessary orthodontic works carried out by the local health board; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this child's mother is a deserted wife and medical card holder and cannot afford to have the work carried out privately; and if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that the child is urgently in need of treatment. [5624/97]

Limerick East): As the provision of orthodontic treatment to eligible persons in County Cork is the statutory responsibility of the Southern Health Board I have asked the chief executive officer of the Southern Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
