Vol. 475 No. 7

Written Answers. - Waterways Service.

Tony Gregory

Question:

95 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if the Office of Public Works will arrange for the removal of refuse and litter from the hedges and banks along the stream between the Grand Canal and Jamestown Court Senior Citizen Complex, Dublin 8, and the replacement of the fence along the bank at the rear of Jamestown Court. [5989/97]

I wish to advise the Deputy that tenders have been invited for grass cutting and litter collection along the Dublin stretch of the Grand Canal from Grand Canal Street to Kylemore Road. The waterways service of my Department expects to place a contract in the matter shortly. Nevertheless, I have directed that the waterways service now undertake the removal of litter from canal property in this area as a matter of urgency.

The fence referred to by the Deputy is not canal property.
