Vol. 475 No. 7

Written Answers. - Land Development.

Seán Haughey

Question:

97 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the amount of land which is owned by his Department in and around the Casino at Marino, Dublin 3; whether any of this land has been disposed of to Dublin Corporation; the plans, if any, his Department has for the future development of these lands; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5668/97]

The lands at the Casino, Marino, Dublin 3, comprise about ten acres of which 5.6 acres are owned by my Department and the balance by Dublin Corporation. No land at the Casino has been disposed of to Dublin Corporation.

It is intended, in co-operation with Dublin Corporation, to maintain the overall area as parkland in order to ensure that the Casino, an 18th century architectural gem of national and European significance, is presented in a parkland setting.
