Vol. 476 No. 1

Written Answers. - Recreational Facilities Scheme.

Joe Walsh

Question:

86 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Education if she will approve national lottery funding for Bantry Blues Community Development Association, County Cork. [6385/97]

The application from Bantry Blues Community Development Association is one of over 1,000 applications on hand seeking funding for the provision of sports and recreational facilities under the sports capital programme.

My Department will consider the application in the context of the funds available in 1997 for the programme.

Question:

87 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Education if she will approve a grant towards a sports hall for a school (details supplied) in County Cork. [6386/97]

The application from the school in question is one of over 1,000 applications on hand seeking funding for the provision of sports and recreational facilities under the sports capital programme.

My Department will consider the application in the context of the funds available in 1997 for the programme but I would point out that school projects are generally not eligible for funding under the programme unless the project is being undertaken by a local community group in co-operation with a school.
