Written Answers. - VEC Scholarships Scheme.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

114 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education if a course being attended by a person (details supplied) from County Cork is acceptable to qualify for a vocational education committee grant. [7106/97]

I have now approved this course for the purpose of the vocational education committee scholarships scheme. The person in question should contact County Cork vocational education committee regarding application for an award under the scheme.

Question:

115 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to have a higher education grant application for a person (details supplied) in County Cork appealed in view of the decision to refuse it. [7107/97]

I understand that the person in question applied for a vocational education committee scholarship to County Cork Vocational Education Committee. The vocational education committee was unable to approve a grant in this case as the applicant does not qualify under the terms of the vocational education committee scholarships scheme. Should the applicant require any further information in regard to the vocational education committee decision or to her entitlement, she should contact the vocational education committee in the matter.
