The 35 city and county enterprise boards are autonomous local development companies which operate under the aegis of my Department and could be considered analogous to non-commercial State-sponsored bodies.
The boards were established in September-October 1993, with the exception of Galway County and City Enterprise Board which was established in 1992. All the boards have been incorporated as companies limited by guarantee and the status of the county enterprise initiative was confirmed by section 10 of the Industrial Development Act, 1995. The date of incorporation of each CEB is set out in table 2 which I am circulating in the Official Report.
