Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

162 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education the status of the intermediate funding which is required for the newly amalgamated school in Moville, County Donegal. [7482/97]

In December 1996, my Department approved the provision of a double prefabricated unit to alleviate the accommodation difficulties at the newly amalgamated schools in Moville. I am aware that additional funding is required to carry out works most especially at the boy's primary school. Funding to assist with the cost of these works must be considered in the light of existing contractual commitments and other projects. At present all available funds are committed on major capital projects and grants already sanctioned. The provision of additional funding for the newly amalgamated schools in Moville will be considered again in the context of future capital allocations.
