Vol. 476 No. 6

Written Answers. - Financial Services Centre.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

71 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Finance the progress, if any, made on the development of the next phase of the financial services centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7879/97]

The development of the original 27 acre Custom House Docks area site in which the International Financial Services Centre is located, is almost complete. To facilitate the continued growth of the centre, I am including in this year's Finance Bill a provision to enable me to extend, by order, the definition of the Custom House Docks area for the purposes of the IFSC tax regime.

I will be proposing in the order that the definition of the Custom House Docks area for IFSC purposes will be extended to a site across Commons Street from the original Custom House Docks area site — i.e. the block bounded by Commons Street, Mayor Street, Guild Street and the North Wall Quay.
