Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Michael Ring

Question:

149 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is called for a hip operation in the immediate future in view of the fact that he is in severe pain. [8266/97]

Limerick East): Inquiries were made from Beaumont Hospital in this matter. I understand that the person concerned has an appointment to attend the consultant for assessment of his condition on 7 July 1997.

The Deputy will appreciate that the scheduling of appointments is a matter for the consultant concerned and each case is assessed to determine medical priority. Beaumont Hospital has advised that should the person concerned feel that his condition has deteriorated, he should contact his general practitioner who is in the best position to emphasise the urgency of his case directly to the consultant.
