Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dermatological Service.

Michael Ring

Question:

150 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is given an appointment to see a dermatologist with the Western Health Board as a matter of urgency in view of the fact that he is in great discomfort. [8267/97]

Limerick East): As the provision of dermatological services to eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board in the first instance, I have asked its chief executive officer to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.

Micheál Martin

Question:

151 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Health if EpiPen auto-injectors will be made available in accident and emergency units in hospitals. [8269/97]

Limerick East): Before consideration could be given to making this medicine-delivery device available in accident and emergency units, it would have to have a product authorisation in this country. I understand from the Irish Medicines Board, which has the statutory responsibility for medicine licensing, that no application for a product authorisation has been received as yet in respect of this device.
