Question:

85 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the indoor and outdoor recreational facilities which inmates of Shelton Abbey Prison can avail of; the normal daily use of such facilities; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9399/97]

The indoor recreational facilities consist of two television sets and a games room and workout facilities. Outdoor facilities are also provided.

The vast majority of the inmates in Shelton Abbey make use of the recreational facilities. Outdoor facilities are used on a seasonal basis while indoor facilities are used throughout the year. Recreational facilities are available for use Monday to Friday during recreation periods and all day on Saturday and Sunday.
