Vol. 477 No. 5

Written Answers. - Child Care Payments

Tony Gregory

Question:

117 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 1 is entitled to a supplement similar to that paid to foster parents for the long-term care of her grand-child; and if this matter will be given due consideration. [9839/97]

This is a matter for the Eastern Health Board. Under the Child Care (Placement of Children with Relatives) Regulations, 1995, health boards may provide such financial or other assistance as the boards consider necessary to enable relatives to take care of a child placed with them by a health board. I have passed on details of the case referred to by the Deputy to the chief executive officer of the board and asked him to reply directly to the Deputy.
