Question:127 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education if she will allocate additional funds to Mahon Community Association for the completion of phase I and II of the community centre programme. [10427/97]
Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.
A grant of £200,000 has been allocated under the Sports Capital Programme towards the development of a community centre in Mahon. The group sponsoring the centre and my Department are exploring the possibilty of using this towards developing phase I of the project at present.
I can confirm that the sponsoring group have requested additional funding under the programme in order to complete both phases of the project.
While there are in excess of 1,000 applications on hand seeking funding under the programme, the request for additional funding in respect of the community centre in Mahon will be considered when decisions are being made on the next round of grant allocations.
