Vol. 478 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Security.

Chris Flood

Question:

185 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education if she will accede to the request from the Bishop Shanahan and Galvin Schools Parents Association, Templeogue, Dublin 6W, for a meeting in order to discuss the urgent need to grant-aid the provision of a security fence; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10782/97]

As my diary is fully booked for the foreseeable future, I regret that I am unable to arrange a meeting with the parents association.

The schools have applied to my Department for grant aid towards the cost of erecting a security fence. However, due to the current level of contractual commitments on the primary capital subhead it is not possible to provide grant aid for this project at present. The project will be considered in the context of future capital allocations.
