39 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the current position regarding the location of an alternative site to the Newry Road, Dundalk, County Louth, in connection with the decentralisation programme; and if he will make a statement outlining the general position in this regard. [11243/97]

Since the Deputy's last question on this matter, proposals for the exchange of the Newry Road site for part of a site at Barrack Street, owned by the county council, have been the subject of negotiations between the Office of Public Works and the local authority. These negotiations are ongoing.
