Vol. 479 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Allowances.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

15 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance if he will have investigations made into the tax affairs of a person (details supplied) in County Cork to ensure that the person is in receipt of the current tax free allowance; the reason different rates of tax are being deducted from him per month such as £1,000 one month and £500 the next month. [12381/97]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that, on the basis of the information currently available, the taxpayer has been granted the correct tax-free allowances for the current and previous years. I am further informed that the Commissioners have no knowledge of the tax deductions referred to by the Deputy. The taxpayer should send documentary evidence of the deductions to his tax inspector so that the investigations requested by the Deputy can be made.
