Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

352 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in payment of ten and 22 month beef premia to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there is hardship involved in this case. [12782/97]

The person named submitted an application under the 1996 ten month special beef premium scheme and an application under the 22 month special beef premium scheme on the same date.

One animal was included on both application forms, with different dates of birth. The applicant later confirmed that the animal was born in February, 1995, thus making it ineligible for the ten month premium scheme when applied on. The application was subject to a farm inspection, a decision on entitlement has been made and payment will issue within a week.

Question:

353 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the ongoing delay in having payment of a 22 month beef premium issued to a person (details supplied) in County Cork in respect of 13 animals. [12783/97]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to his Question No. 269 of 8 April 1997.

Appeals are dealt in the order in which they are received and there will be no undue delay in processing the appeal in respect of this herdowner.

Question:

354 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when 1995 ten and 22 month beef premia will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [12784/97]

The person concerned submitted applications for ten and 22 month animals under the 1995 special beef premium scheme on 1 December 1995 in respect of 12 and eight animals respectively.

As the person named did not submit an area aid application for 1995 and possessed a milk quota of 14,915 gallons he is not eligible for premia payments due to stocking restrictions.
