Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Costs.

Ivor Callely

Question:

49 Mr. Callely asked the Taoiseach the cost to date of all ministerial photography in his Department since December 1994; if he will give a breakdown of such costs for himself and the Ministers of State at his Department. [12970/97]

The total photography costs of the Department in 1995, 1996 and to date in 1997 are: 1995, £21,051; 1996, £16,999; 1997 to date, £10,453. These costs arise from national events, in particular visiting Heads of Government and other foreign dignitaries, the social partners, and attendance at national events and ceremonies, especially during Ireland's Presidency of the EU in the second half of 1996, which included two EU summit meetings and numerous meetings with European Heads of State and Government.

The events are, therefore, ones in which the Taoiseach was involved, with other Ministers, and the Ministers of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, in many cases.
