Dermot Ahern

Question:

56 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the persons appointed by him to boards under the aegis of his Department since January 1995; and the number of vacancies currently remaining to be filled or due to fall vacant in the near future. [12689/97]

There are five boards-committees that come under the aegis of the Department of Foreign Affairs. They are:

Agency for Personal Service Overseas

Cultural Relations Committee

Irish Aid Advisory Committee

The National Committee for Development

Education

The Refugee Agency

Agency for Personal Service Overseas (APSO) The 11 members on the board of APSO, are as follows:

1. Dr. Anthony Clare

2. Fr. Des McGillicuddy

3. Mr. Paul Cullen

4. Mr. Howard Dalzell

5. Mr. Martin Greene

6. Mr. Robin Hanan

7. Ms Mary Sweeney

8. Ms Anne Connolly

There are no vacancies on the APSO board and none is anticipated to arise this year.

Cultural Relations Committee (CRC)

The 18 members of the CRC are as follows:

Irish Aid Advisory Committee (IAAC)

The 14 members of IAAC are as follows:

Mr. Justin Kilcullen, Mr. Garret Sheehan, Ms Cherie McElwhain, Ms Mary Jennings and Ms Mary Sutton were also appointed or reappointed in the period from 1 January 1995 but they have since left the committee and were subsequently replaced.
There are no vacancies at present on the IAAC and none are anticipated to arise until the term of the current committee expires on 31 October 1997.
National Committee for Development Education (NCDE)
The 21 members of the NCDE are as follows:

Office of the Tánaiste
The National Economic and Social Forum (NESF) is the only board which comes under the aegis of the Office of the Tánaiste. I appoint members to the NESF on the foot of nominations from political parties, the social partners and representatives of women, the unemployed, the disadvantaged, people with a disability, youth, the elderly and environmental interests. The 48 members of the forum are as follows:
