Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

61 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to bring about decentralisation. [12982/97]

Joe Jacob

Question:

67 Mr. Jacob asked the Minister for Finance the Government Departments it is intended will be decentralised to areas outside Dublin; the proposed location for each such Department; if he will give a breakdown of the number of staff by grade which will be decentralised in each such Department; the timescale envisaged for each such decentralisation; the future plans, if any, he has for further decentralisation of Government Departments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12630/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 61 and 67 together.

Details of ongoing and planned decentralisation projects are set out in the following table. It is not possible, at this point, to say what grades will be transferred. Pending the completion of the existing decentralisation programme, and a review of its effectiveness, there are no proposals to extend decentralisation to any further centres.
